During the event, Abeyta shot three adults before escaping the scene just before police arrived. The injured parties were quickly taken to a local hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. The police were able to pinpoint Abeyta as the assailant through accounts from witnesses and footage from security cameras. They found his clothing and a handgun, believed to have been used in the crime, hidden under a vehicle near the market.

Subsequent efforts to locate Abeyta included support from an L.A. County Sheriff’s Department airship. He was eventually spotted and apprehended on Meredith Avenue. Abeyta faces several charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, illegal firearm possession by a felon, and making criminal threats related to the robbery. His bail is set at $2 million.

Further investigation led to the arrest of Amanda Soto, 37, also from Pomona, who was identified as an accomplice in the robbery. Soto faces robbery charges and had an existing warrant for her arrest. She is currently held on $125,000 bail. The case is still under investigation.
